Hello Again

Well, July recruiting has finally come to an end. For me, it ended last Monday with a tournament I was watching in Memphis, TN. Since then, I have been on vacation with my mom in sunny southern California. What a way to relax after a long month on the road! Thanks to Coach Porter and Coach Pulliam for fixing the recruiting schedule so I could have one last vacation to the beach before school starts. Right now, I have one day at home with my family before heading back to work tomorrow. I just got home from a Braves game where I got to go up in the radio booth and talk RU basketball with Dave Friedman, our radio announcer. He does radio for a minor league baseball team and they just happened to be in town this afternoon. July produced a great group of prospective student-athletes that we will get to know and hopefully recruit in the future. It was a fun month but the real fun begins in a few weeks. School starts back on August 21st and preseason workouts will be soon to follow. Almost time for another basketball season to start! Keep following RU Women's Hoops as we head toward what we hope will be a very successful season.

July Recruiting

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted anything. As some of you may know, July begins our big recruiting period. We are allowed to be out watching tournaments from July 6th to the 15th and from the 21st to the 31st. During this month, we will see tournaments in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando, D.C., Maryland, Memphis, and Louisianna. Wow, that makes me tired just thinking about all of that traveling...but at least I can speak for myself when I say that I wouldn't rather be doing anything else. It is very exciting watching some of these very talented young players and envisioning them in a Radford uniform.
I am writing this entry as I am sitting in an airport waiting on my flight to Chicago that has been delayed. I just bumped into Coach Porter sitting at the next gate down waiting on her flight to Atlanta that has also been delayed...gotta love airports! Second delay on as many flights this week for me. Coach Pulliam is down in Orlando hopefully working hard...and not hanging out at the beach! Just kidding. We know Coach P is down there getting the job done! Well, the announcement just came that my flight will begin boarding soon so I will cut this one short. Off to find the next generation in Lady Highlander basketball! Wish us luck!
